ELECTRONIC DEVICE SHARING PERIPHERAL DEVICE WITH EXTERNAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18538139 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE SHARING PERIPHERAL DEVICE WITH EXTERNAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device that facilitates sharing user input from a peripheral device to external electronic devices, based on user account registration and permission settings.

  • The device receives user input from a peripheral device.
  • It transmits a share function request to external electronic devices nearby.
  • It checks if the external devices are registered to the same user account.
  • It verifies if the share function is allowed on the external devices.
  • If conditions are met, it transmits input information to display the cursor on the external devices.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in collaborative work environments where multiple users need to interact with the same content simultaneously. It could also be useful in educational settings for sharing content between students and teachers.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of seamlessly sharing user input across multiple devices without the need for complex setup or manual synchronization. It streamlines the process of collaborating and interacting with content on different screens.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved collaboration, increased productivity, and enhanced user experience. It simplifies the sharing of information and promotes seamless interaction between devices.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of collaborative software tools for businesses and educational institutions. It could also be integrated into smart home devices for sharing content across screens.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be screen mirroring or screen sharing applications that allow users to display content from one device to another. However, the specific functionality of automatically sharing user input based on user account registration and permission settings may be a novel aspect of this innovation.

Unanswered Questions

How does the device handle security and privacy concerns when sharing user input across multiple devices?

The abstract does not provide details on the security measures implemented to protect user data during the sharing process. It would be important to understand how the device ensures that sensitive information is not compromised.

What types of peripheral devices are compatible with this technology?

The abstract mentions receiving user input from a peripheral device, but it does not specify the range of devices that can be used. It would be helpful to know if there are any limitations on the types of peripherals that can be connected to the electronic device.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device is provided, which receives a user input from a peripheral device, transmits a request associated with a share function for the peripheral device to at least one external electronic device near the electronic device, receives a response to the request from the at least one external electronic device, determines whether the at least one external electronic device is registered to a same user account, determines whether the share function for the peripheral device is allowed at the at least one external electronic device, and if the at least one external electronic device is registered to the same user account and the share function is allowed at the at least one external electronic device, and based on a determination that the user input corresponds to a location of a cursor being out of the display screen, transmits input information associated with the user input from the peripheral device to the at least one external electronic device, such that the cursor is displayed at the at least one external electronic device.
