LATERAL SLEEP SYSTEMS FOR AIRCRAFT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18525350 titled 'LATERAL SLEEP SYSTEMS FOR AIRCRAFT

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes lateral sleep systems for aircraft, with individual sleep apparatus positioned on each side of a divider adjacent to seats. Each sleep apparatus includes a headrest and a cradle that supports the headrest and is mounted on a support ledge of the divider.

  • The lateral sleep systems are designed to provide passengers with a comfortable sleeping position during flights.
  • The sleep apparatus includes a headrest and a cradle that are mounted on a support ledge of the divider.
  • The system is positioned on each side of the divider adjacent to seats in the aircraft.

Potential Applications

The technology can be applied in the aviation industry to improve passenger comfort during long-haul flights.

Problems Solved

The lateral sleep systems address the issue of discomfort and lack of proper sleeping positions for passengers during flights.

Benefits

Passengers can enjoy a more comfortable sleeping experience during flights, leading to increased satisfaction and potentially improved overall travel experience.

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology can be marketed to airlines as a premium feature to attract passengers looking for enhanced comfort during flights.

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing patents or designs related to sleep systems for aircraft, but specific prior art is not provided in the abstract.

Unanswered Questions

How does the lateral sleep system accommodate passengers of different sizes and shapes?

The patent application does not specify if the sleep systems are adjustable to accommodate passengers of varying sizes and shapes. This information would be crucial in understanding the inclusivity of the technology.

What materials are used in the construction of the lateral sleep systems?

The abstract does not mention the materials used in the construction of the sleep systems. Knowing the materials could provide insights into the durability and comfort level of the apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

Lateral sleep systems for aircraft are disclosed. A first lateral sleep apparatus is positioned on a first side of a divider adjacent a first seat, the lateral sleep apparatus includes a first headrest and a first cradle. The first cradle supports the first headrest and includes a first panel mounting interface coupling the first headrest to a first support ledge of the divider. A second lateral sleep apparatus is positioned on a second side of the divider adjacent a second seat, where the second lateral sleep apparatus includes a second headrest and a second cradle. The second cradle supports the second headrest and includes a second panel mounting interface coupling the second headrest to a second support ledge of the divider.
