The method includes: displaying a first control in a message window in response to an operation of entering a message multi-selection mode triggered by a user, wherein the first control is used to select multiple messages; determining a target position of the first control in a message in the message window in response to a position changing operation by the user on the first control; and selecting messages below the target position in response to a triggering operation by the user on the first control.
