METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INDICATING FAULT STATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18487877 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INDICATING FAULT STATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method and apparatus for indicating a fault status. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • A first device determines N alignment marker (AM) groups, where each AM group includes first indication information used to indicate a fault status of R receiving logical lanes of the first device. Each AM group also includes M pieces of alignment marker group lane (AMGL) information.
  • In N periods, the first device sends M pieces of AMGL information constituting an iAM group to a second device over M transmitting logical lanes.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Fault detection and indication in communication systems.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting network connections.
  • Identifying and resolving issues in data transmission.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficiently indicating fault status in a system with multiple logical lanes.
  • Simplifying fault detection and troubleshooting processes.
  • Enhancing the reliability and performance of communication systems.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved fault detection and identification.
  • Faster troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Enhanced system reliability and performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Method and an apparatus are provided for indicating a fault status. The method includes: a first device determines N alignment marker AM groups, where the N AM groups include first indication information, the first indication information is used to indicate a fault status of R receiving logical lanes of the first device, and each of the N AM groups includes M pieces of alignment marker group lane AMGL information; and in an iperiod of N periods, the first device respectively sends M pieces of AMGL information constituting an iAM group to a second device over M transmitting logical lanes.
