DATA ACCESS SYSTEM AND METHOD, DEVICE, AND NETWORK ADAPTER - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18485942 titled 'DATA ACCESS SYSTEM AND METHOD, DEVICE, AND NETWORK ADAPTER
Simplified Explanation
The abstract of the patent application describes a system where a client device sends a packet to a storage device to request writing data into it. The packet contains a logical address indicating where the data should be written. The storage device's network adapter can parse and process the packet, writing the data into the storage device based on the packet's indication. The storage device also generates metadata and records the correspondence between the logical address and the metadata, which includes the physical address where the data is stored in the storage device.
- The system involves a client device and a storage device.
- The client device sends a packet to the storage device to request writing data.
- The packet contains a logical address indicating where the data should be written.
- The storage device's network adapter can parse and process the packet.
- The network adapter writes the data into the storage device based on the packet's indication.
- The storage device generates metadata and records the correspondence between the logical address and the metadata.
- The metadata includes the physical address where the data is stored in the storage device.
Potential Applications:
- Data storage systems
- Cloud computing infrastructure
- Network-attached storage (NAS) devices
- Distributed file systems
Problems Solved:

- Simplified management and organization of stored data
Original Abstract Submitted
A client device sends a first packet to a first storage device, to request that target data can be written into the first storage device, where the first packet includes a logical address into which the target data needs to be written. A front-end network adapter of the first storage device has a capability of parsing the first packet, and can process the first packet; writes the target data into the first storage device based on an indication of the first packet; and generates metadata, and records a correspondence between the logical address of the target data and the metadata, where the metadata can indicate a physical address at which the target data is stored in the first storage device.
