IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18485896 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

An image forming apparatus is described in this patent application. It consists of a photosensitive member and a scanning unit, which includes a light source, a rotatable polygonal mirror, and a sensor. The apparatus has two modes of operation, and it includes a surface identifying portion and a correction data storing portion.

  • The image forming apparatus has a photosensitive member and a scanning unit with a light source, a rotatable polygonal mirror, and a sensor.
  • It can operate in two modes, allowing for different types of operations.
  • The apparatus includes a surface identifying portion and a correction data storing portion.
  • The correction data storing portion is used to store preloaded correction data.
  • The correction data includes first correction data for a first rotational speed and second correction data for a second rotational speed.
  • The apparatus corrects positional deviation in the main scan direction of laser light based on the first or second correction data.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This image forming apparatus can be used in various printing and copying machines.
  • It can be utilized in laser printers, photocopiers, and multifunction devices.
  • The technology can be applied in industries that require high-quality image reproduction.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The apparatus corrects positional deviation in the main scan direction of laser light, ensuring accurate image formation.
  • It eliminates the need for manual adjustments and reduces the chances of misalignment.
  • The correction data storing portion allows for efficient and precise correction of positional deviation.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The image forming apparatus improves the quality and accuracy of printed or copied images.
  • It reduces the need for manual adjustments, saving time and effort.
  • The correction data storing portion enables quick and automatic correction of positional deviation.
  • The technology enhances the overall performance and reliability of image forming devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member and a scanning unit including a light source, a rotatable polygonal mirror, and a sensor. The image forming apparatus includes setting of an operation in a first mode and setting of an operation in a second mode. The image forming apparatus further comprises, a surface identifying portion and a correction data storing portion configured to prestore correction data including first correction data for a first rotational speed and second correction data for a second rotational speed. Positional deviation in a main scan direction of laser light is corrected on the basis of the first correction data or the second correction data.
