METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REMOTE MANAGEMENT AND VERIFICATION OF REMOTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18471952 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REMOTE MANAGEMENT AND VERIFICATION OF REMOTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a communication method and system that combines a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. This technology can support higher data rates beyond what a 4th-Generation (4G) system can provide. It can be applied to various intelligent services based on 5G and IoT, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security, and safety services.

  • The method allows for remote management and remote management authority verification by a terminal.
  • The terminal receives a remote management instruction package.
  • The terminal obtains certificate information configured for a security module, which is used for remotely managing a security service module corresponding to one or more identifiers.
  • The terminal verifies the remote security service module management certificate of a bundle management server and the remote management instruction package using the obtained certificate information.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Smart home: The technology can be used to remotely manage and verify security services in a smart home, such as surveillance cameras, door locks, and alarm systems.
  • Smart building: The technology can enable remote management and verification of security services in a smart building, including access control systems, fire detection systems, and energy management systems.
  • Smart city: The technology can be utilized for remote management and verification of various IoT devices and services in a smart city, such as smart streetlights, waste management systems, and traffic control systems.
  • Smart car and connected car: The technology can allow for remote management and verification of security services in smart cars, including vehicle tracking, remote locking/unlocking, and emergency services.
  • Health care: The technology can be used for remote management and verification of security services in healthcare settings, such as patient monitoring systems, medication dispensers, and emergency response systems.
  • Digital education: The technology can enable remote management and verification of security services in digital education platforms, including access control, content protection, and student tracking.
  • Smart retail: The technology can be utilized for remote management and verification of security services in smart retail environments, such as inventory tracking, anti-theft systems, and customer analytics.
  • Security and safety services: The technology can allow for remote management and verification of security and safety services in various contexts, such as surveillance systems, alarm systems, and emergency response systems.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Enables remote management and verification of security services, eliminating the need for physical access to devices or systems.
  • Enhances security by verifying the remote security service module management certificate.
  • Streamlines the process of managing and verifying security services in various IoT applications.
  • Provides a standardized method for remote management and verification across different IoT devices and services.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved convenience and efficiency in managing and verifying security services remotely.
  • Enhanced security and safety in IoT applications.
  • Enables seamless integration of 5G communication and IoT technology.
  • Provides a scalable solution for managing and verifying security services in various intelligent services.

Original Abstract Submitted

A communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method for remote management and remote management authority verification by a terminal includes: receiving a remote management instruction package; obtaining certificate information configured for a security module, which may be used when remotely managing a security service module corresponding to at least one identifier among a plurality of identifiers; and verifying a remote security service module management certificate of a bundle management server and the remote management instruction package by using the obtained certificate information.
