The electronic device includes communication circuitry, a display module, a processor operatively connected to the communication circuitry and the display, and memory, wherein the memory stores instructions, when executed, the processor controls a field for inputting text through the display is displayed, receive a user input for the field for inputting the text, confirm whether the field is a predetermined type, in response to the reception of the user input, confirm information related to the type of keyboard to be output through an external electronic device, if the field is the predetermined type, transmit, to the external electronic device, the confirmed information related to the type of keyboard through the communication circuitry, receive, from the external electronic device, data input on the basis of the keyboard corresponding to the keyboard type, and input data for the field on the basis of the received data.
