ELECTRONIC DEVICE, VEHICLE, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18465196 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE, VEHICLE, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The electronic device described in the patent application is designed to adjust the speed limit displayed to a driver based on the weight of the vehicle they are driving. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The device stores the gross weight of the vehicle.
  • It identifies multiple speed limits on the road.
  • If the weight is equal to or greater than a threshold, it displays the first speed limit as the applied speed limit.
  • If the weight is below the threshold, it displays a higher speed limit as the applied speed limit.

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in vehicles to improve road safety by adjusting speed limits based on the weight of the vehicle.

Problems Solved: This technology helps prevent accidents by ensuring that vehicles are traveling at safe speeds based on their weight.

Benefits: - Enhanced road safety - Customized speed limits for different vehicles

Potential Commercial Applications: This technology could be integrated into vehicles as a safety feature, or it could be used in traffic management systems to regulate speeds based on vehicle weight.

Possible Prior Art: There may be existing systems that adjust speed limits based on certain vehicle parameters, but none specifically based on vehicle weight.

Unanswered Questions: 1. How does the device determine the weight of the vehicle accurately? 2. Are there any potential drawbacks or limitations to implementing this technology in vehicles?

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device includes a storage that stores the gross weight of the vehicle V, an identification part that identifies a plurality of speed limits on a road on which the vehicle V is traveling, and an output part that outputs a first speed limit among the plurality of speed limits as an applied speed limit when the gross weight stored in the storage is equal to or greater than a threshold, and output a second speed limit which is higher than the first speed limit among the plurality of speed limits as the applied speed limit when the gross weight is not equal to or greater than the threshold.
