VEHICLE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18391022 titled 'VEHICLE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method of controlling a vehicle with multiple batteries and a solar cell, optimizing power distribution based on battery state of charge and stopping power supply when not needed.

  • The method involves producing power with a solar cell and converting its voltage.
  • Power produced is transferred to either the first battery or the second battery based on their state of charge.
  • The power supply is stopped from providing power to the power converter if the supply time exceeds a predetermined reference time.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in electric vehicles, drones, and other battery-powered devices that can benefit from efficient power management and utilization of solar energy.

Problems Solved

1. Efficient power distribution: The method ensures optimal use of power generated by the solar cell, extending the overall battery life. 2. Preventing overcharging: By stopping the power supply when not needed, the risk of overcharging the batteries is reduced, enhancing safety and longevity.

Benefits

1. Increased energy efficiency: By intelligently distributing power, the system maximizes the use of renewable energy sources. 2. Extended battery life: Proper management of battery charging helps prolong the lifespan of the batteries, reducing maintenance costs.

Potential Commercial Applications

  • "Optimizing Power Distribution in Electric Vehicles and Drones": This title includes relevant keywords for SEO optimization and highlights the potential market applications of the technology.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be a patent for a similar method of power distribution in electric vehicles or devices using multiple batteries and solar cells.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of controlling a vehicle where the vehicle includes a first battery, a second battery, a solar cell, a power converter, a power divider, and a power supply. The method includes producing power by the solar cell and converting a voltage of the produced power by the power converter. The method also includes transferring, by the power divider, the power produced by the solar cell to at least one of the first battery or the second battery based on a state of charge (SoC) of the first battery and a SoC of the second battery. The method also includes stopping the power supply from supplying power to the power converter when a time for which the power is supplied to the power converter is longer than or equal to a predetermined reference time.
