CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18366165 titled 'CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an electronic control device for a vehicle that limits the power consumption of a motor compressor driving the air conditioner based on the state-of-charge value of the main battery in high-altitude environments.

  • The device limits power consumption of the motor compressor in high-altitude environments when the state-of-charge value of the main battery is below a certain threshold.
  • The air conditioner operation is stopped when the state-of-charge value of the main battery falls below a lower determination value.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in electric vehicles operating in high-altitude environments to optimize power usage and extend battery life.

Problems Solved

This technology helps prevent excessive power consumption in high-altitude environments, where the performance of the main battery may be affected.

Benefits

- Improved efficiency of the vehicle's power usage - Extended battery life in high-altitude environments

Potential Commercial Applications

"Optimizing Power Consumption in High-Altitude Environments for Electric Vehicles"

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to optimizing power consumption in electric vehicles based on environmental conditions, but specific examples are not provided in the abstract.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact the overall performance of the vehicle in high-altitude environments?

This technology helps maintain optimal power usage and battery life, but its direct impact on vehicle performance, such as acceleration or range, is not explicitly mentioned in the abstract.

Are there any potential safety concerns associated with limiting the power consumption of the motor compressor in certain conditions?

While the abstract focuses on optimizing power usage, it does not address any safety implications that may arise from limiting the operation of the air conditioner in high-altitude environments.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic control device of a vehicle including an engine, a motor rotationally driven by the engine, and an air conditioner includes: (a) limiting a power consumption of a motor compressor that drives the air conditioner to be less than a predetermined amount when a state-of-charge value SOC of a main battery that is charged by electric power generated by the motor is less than a determination value SOC in a case where the engine is running in an engine using the engine as a power source and the vehicle is in a predetermined high-altitude environment; (b) the operation of the air conditioner is stopped when the state-of-charge value SOC is less than a determination value SOC that is lower than a determination value.
