CODEBOOK SUBSET RESTRICTION FOR COHERENT JOINT TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18331848 titled 'CODEBOOK SUBSET RESTRICTION FOR COHERENT JOINT TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes apparatuses and methods for codebook subset restriction for coherent joint transmission in wireless networks. This involves receiving channel state information reports associated with multiple groups of antenna ports, identifying allowed rank values and codebook subset restrictions, determining the appropriate CSI report based on these restrictions, and transmitting the report.

  • The method involves receiving information about the channel state of antenna ports.
  • It includes identifying allowed rank values and codebook subset restrictions.
  • The method determines the appropriate CSI report based on these restrictions.
  • Finally, the method involves transmitting the CSI report.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in wireless communication systems, particularly in optimizing coherent joint transmission for improved network performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Apparatuses and methods for codebook subset restriction for coherent joint transmission in wireless networks. A method includes receiving information about a channel state information (CSI) report associated with N>1 groups of antenna ports. The information indicates (i) a coherent joint transmission (CJT) codebook, (ii) a rank restriction, and (iii) Ncodebook subset restrictions (CBSRs). The method further includes identifying, based on the rank restriction, a set Sof one or more rank values allowed for the CSI report; identifying, based on the NCBSRs, sets S, . . . , S; determining the CSI report associated with the Ngroups of antenna ports based on the CJT codebook, the set S, and the sets S, . . . , S; and transmitting the CSI report. For n=1, . . . , N, the set Sis associated with n-th groups of antenna ports of the Ngroups of antenna ports. The set Sincludes spatial-domain (SD) basis vectors that are allowed for the CSI report.
