Methods for RAN-Visible (Lightweight) QoE Configuration and Measurement Coordination Among RAN Notes - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18275126 titled 'Methods for RAN-Visible (Lightweight) QoE Configuration and Measurement Coordination Among RAN Notes
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes methods for managing quality-of-experience (QoE) measurements by a user equipment (UE) in a radio access network (RAN). One method involves transmitting configuration information for RAN-visible QoE measurements from one RAN node to another associated node, which may be involved in multi-connectivity, mobility, RRC resume/reestablishment, or data transfer for the UE.
- Simplified Explanation:
- Method for managing QoE measurements in a RAN by transmitting configuration information between nodes for UE optimization.
- Potential Applications:
- Telecommunications networks - Mobile service providers - Network optimization companies
- Problems Solved:
- Enhancing user experience - Improving network efficiency - Optimizing UE configurations
- Benefits:
- Better QoE for users - Enhanced network performance - Efficient resource allocation
- Potential Commercial Applications:
- Network equipment vendors - Telecommunication service providers - QoE management software developers
- Possible Prior Art:
- Previous methods for QoE management in RANs - Existing UE configuration optimization techniques
Questions:
1. How does the method ensure seamless handover between RAN nodes for UE mobility?
- The method involves transmitting configuration information between associated nodes to ensure a smooth transition during handover.
2. What impact does this method have on network latency for data transfer to the UE?
- By optimizing UE configurations based on QoE measurements, the method aims to reduce network latency and improve data transfer efficiency.
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods for managing quality-of-experience, QoE, measurements by a user equipment, UE. A first example method, carried out by a first radio access network, RAN, node, comprises transmitting (), to a second node in the RAN, configuration information for one or more RAN-visible QoE measurements configured for the UE by the first node. The second node may be associated with the first node with respect to at least one of: changing a configuration for the UE for multi-connectivity; mobility for the UE; RRC resume or RRC reestablishment for the UE; and switching transfer of data for the service from a path going to the UE via the first RAN node to a path going to the UE via the second RAN node.
