METHODS FOR DETERMINING A TARGET NETWORK CONFIGURATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18274375 titled 'METHODS FOR DETERMINING A TARGET NETWORK CONFIGURATION

Simplified Explanation

The method described in the abstract involves determining a target network configuration for providing services to a first operator on a communications network by matching the operator to a previous operator with similar characteristics and using the target network configuration of the matched operator.

  • The method involves obtaining characteristics of the first operator on the communications network.
  • Characteristics of previous operators and their corresponding target network configurations are obtained.
  • The first operator is matched to a second operator based on similarity in characteristics.
  • The target network configuration for the first operator is determined based on the configuration used for the matched second operator.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in telecommunications networks to optimize network configurations for different operators based on their characteristics.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in efficiently providing services to operators by matching them to similar operators and using their network configurations as a reference.

Benefits

The method can lead to improved service provision, better network performance, and enhanced operator satisfaction.

Potential Commercial Applications

This technology could be valuable for telecommunications companies looking to optimize their network configurations for different operators efficiently.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be the use of machine learning algorithms to optimize network configurations based on operator characteristics.

Unanswered Questions

How does the method handle operators with unique characteristics that do not match any previous operators?

The method may need to have a mechanism to handle operators with unique characteristics by possibly creating a new target network configuration based on a combination of existing configurations.

What are the potential challenges in implementing this method on a large scale in a complex communications network?

Implementing this method on a large scale may face challenges such as scalability, data privacy concerns, and the need for robust matching algorithms to handle a diverse range of operator characteristics.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method performed by a node in a communications network for determining a target network configuration for use in providing services to a first operator on the communications network. The method includes obtaining characteristics of the first operator; obtaining, for a plurality of previous operators in the communications network, characteristics of the previous operators and corresponding target network configurations used for the respective previous operators; matching the first operator to a second operator selected from the previous operators based on similarity between the characteristics of the first operator and the characteristics of the previous operators; and determining the target network configuration for the first operator, based on a target network configuration used for the second operator.
