IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18272069 titled 'IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The present invention relates to an image display device that includes a display and a wireless transmission device for transmitting image data to the display wirelessly.

  • The wireless transmission device includes at least one antenna device for transmitting image data to the display.
  • The wireless transmission device generates a beamforming candidate list for tracking a beam output from the antenna device, which includes antenna-based indexes corresponding to a peripheral region around the antenna device.
  • The wireless transmission device excludes certain indexes from the beamforming candidate list based on signal-to-noise ratio or metric differences between adjacent indexes.
    • Potential Applications:**

This technology can be applied in smart TVs, digital signage displays, and other devices that require wireless transmission of image data.

    • Problems Solved:**

This technology solves the problem of quickly performing beamforming tracking when obstacles block the wireless transmission between the device and the display.

    • Benefits:**

The benefits of this technology include improved signal transmission quality, faster data transfer rates, and enhanced user experience with wireless image display devices.

    • Potential Commercial Applications:**

This technology can be commercially applied in the consumer electronics industry, specifically in the development of advanced image display devices for home entertainment systems.

    • Possible Prior Art:**

Prior art in wireless communication systems and beamforming technology may exist, but specific examples are not provided in this abstract.

    • Unanswered Questions:**
    • 1. How does this technology impact power consumption in image display devices?**

This article does not address the potential impact of this technology on power consumption in image display devices. Further research and analysis would be needed to determine any effects on power efficiency.

    • 2. Are there any limitations to the distance between the wireless transmission device and the display for effective image data transmission?**

The abstract does not mention any limitations on the distance between the wireless transmission device and the display. Additional information or testing may be required to determine the optimal distance for efficient image data transmission.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present invention relates to an image display device. An image display device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a display; and a wireless transmission device which is spaced apart from the display and transmits image data to the display by a wireless communication method, wherein the wireless transmission device includes at least one antenna device for wirelessly transmitting image data to the display, and the wireless transmission device generates, for beamforming tracking of a beam output from the antenna device, a beamforming candidate list including some of a plurality of antenna-based indexes corresponding to a peripheral region around the antenna device, and when a difference in a signal-to-noise ratio or a metric difference between a first index and a second index adjacent to the first index among some of the plurality of antenna-based indexes is less than a beam gain, the wireless transmission device excludes the second index from the beamforming candidate list. Accordingly, it is possible to quickly perform beamforming tracking when a blocker occurs between the wireless transmission device and the display, which are arranged apart from each other.
