TERMINAL CONTROL METHOD, BASE STATION AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18266659 titled 'TERMINAL CONTROL METHOD, BASE STATION AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a terminal control method in a communication system where a first base station sends a pre-handover request to a second base station for a predetermined service, and upon receiving pre-handover success information, initiates a handover command to the terminal for accessing the second base station.

  • The method involves sending a pre-handover request from the first base station to the second base station for a predetermined service.
  • The second base station stores configuration information of the first base station and controls the terminal to access it based on the service identifier, first base station configuration, and terminal capability information.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in mobile communication systems to efficiently manage handovers between base stations for different services.

Problems Solved

1. Seamless handover between base stations for different services. 2. Ensuring terminal access to the appropriate base station based on service compatibility.

Benefits

1. Improved service availability for terminals. 2. Enhanced network efficiency through optimized handover procedures.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing handover processes in cellular networks for better service delivery and network performance.

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing methods for handover control in communication systems, but this specific approach of pre-handover requests and terminal control based on service compatibility may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

How does this method handle handovers between base stations with different technologies or protocols?

The abstract does not specify how the method deals with handovers between base stations using different technologies or communication protocols.

What impact does this method have on network latency during handovers?

The abstract does not address the potential impact of this method on network latency when terminals switch between base stations.

Original Abstract Submitted

A terminal control method comprises: when a first base station receives a service request of a predetermined service sent by a terminal, sending a pre-handover request carrying a predetermined service identifier to the second base station, such that the second base station returns pre-handover success information, wherein the second base station stores first base station configuration information; when the first base station receives the pre-handover success information, sending a handover command to the terminal such that the terminal accesses the second base station and sends terminal capability information; when the first base station does not support the predetermined service and the terminal does not support the predetermined service in a communication system to which the first base station belongs, the second base station controls the terminal to always access the second base station according to the predetermined service identifier, the first base station configuration information and the terminal capability information.
