SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROL IN DELIVERY OF THERMAL LIQUID TREATMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18259051 titled 'SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROL IN DELIVERY OF THERMAL LIQUID TREATMENT

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a heated liquid system within a catheter for delivering treatment liquid while maintaining its temperature.

  • The catheter includes a liquid delivery channel for treatment liquid and a circulation supply channel for conveying heated liquid towards the distal end.
  • A circulation return channel is also present to convey the heated liquid back towards the proximal end of the catheter.
  • The heated liquid is utilized to regulate and sustain the temperature of the treatment liquid.

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in medical procedures such as thermal ablation, drug delivery, or hyperthermia treatment.

Problems Solved

1. Ensures the treatment liquid remains at the desired temperature throughout the procedure. 2. Facilitates precise temperature control for effective treatment outcomes.

Benefits

1. Improved efficiency and accuracy in delivering heated treatment liquids. 2. Enhanced patient comfort and safety during medical interventions.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Advanced Heated Liquid Catheter Technology for Medical Procedures"

Possible Prior Art

There are existing patents related to heated liquid systems in medical devices, but specific prior art for this exact application would need to be researched further.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to traditional methods of liquid delivery in medical catheters?

The technology offers a more controlled and consistent temperature regulation for the treatment liquid, which can lead to more effective and precise medical procedures.

What are the potential challenges in implementing this heated liquid system in catheters on a larger scale?

One challenge could be ensuring the compatibility and integration of the system with existing medical equipment and procedures. Additionally, the cost-effectiveness and scalability of production could be areas of consideration for widespread adoption.

Original Abstract Submitted

A heated liquid system may comprise a catheter including a liquid delivery channel for delivery of a treatment liquid from a distal end portion of the catheter. The catheter may also include a circulation supply channel extending along the liquid delivery channel. The circulation supply channel may be configured to convey a heated liquid from a heated liquid source toward the distal end portion of the catheter. The catheter may also include a circulation return channel extending along the liquid delivery channel. The circulation return channel may be configured to convey the heated liquid from the distal end portion toward a proximal end portion of the catheter. The heated liquid may be used to maintain a temperature of the treatment liquid.
