VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE, VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18223831 titled 'VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE, VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The display control ECU in this patent application controls the display in a vehicle to show different views based on the direction selected through the input unit. It also switches the displayed view to match the traveling direction of the vehicle when it differs from the current view.

  • The patent application involves a display control system in a vehicle that can show different views of the vehicle's surroundings based on user input.
  • The system automatically switches the displayed view to match the direction in which the vehicle is traveling to provide the driver with the most relevant information.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in various vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and buses, to enhance the driver's visibility and awareness of their surroundings.

Problems Solved

This technology helps solve the problem of limited visibility for drivers by providing them with multiple views of the vehicle's surroundings, improving safety and reducing the risk of accidents.

Benefits

- Improved visibility for drivers - Enhanced safety on the road - Better awareness of the vehicle's surroundings

Potential Commercial Applications

- Automotive industry for vehicles of all types - Transportation companies for fleet vehicles - Technology companies developing advanced driver assistance systems

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be existing display control systems in vehicles that provide different views of the surroundings but do not automatically switch views based on the vehicle's traveling direction.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system determine the traveling direction of the vehicle?

The abstract mentions a traveling state detecting unit, but it does not specify the exact method or technology used to detect the vehicle's traveling direction.

Are there any limitations to the number of views that can be displayed?

The abstract mentions a plurality of views, but it does not specify the exact number or if there are any limitations to the number of views that can be displayed.

Original Abstract Submitted

The display control ECU causes the display to display a view in a direction selected through the input unit among a plurality of views having mutually different directions obtained from the captured images acquired from the imaging unit that captures an image of the periphery of the vehicle. In addition, the display control ECU is configured such that the traveling state detecting unit that detects the traveling state and the traveling direction of the vehicle detects that the traveling of the vehicle is started, and when the view displayed on the display differs from the traveling direction of the vehicle, the view displayed on the display is switched to the view in the traveling direction of the vehicle.
