CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE, VEHICLE LAMP SYSTEM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18212482 titled 'CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE, VEHICLE LAMP SYSTEM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a control device for a vehicle that includes a flashing control unit and a behavior control unit. The flashing control unit controls the flashing of the right and left lamp units, while the behavior control unit executes deceleration and course change processes based on the driver's state.

  • The control device includes a flashing control unit and a behavior control unit.
  • The flashing control unit controls the flashing of the right and left lamp units.
  • The behavior control unit executes deceleration and course change processes based on the driver's state.
  • The right and left lamp units flash in the same pattern during deceleration and in different patterns during a course change.
      1. Potential Applications
  • Automotive industry for vehicle safety and driver assistance systems.
  • Autonomous vehicles for enhancing communication with other road users.
      1. Problems Solved
  • Improving vehicle safety by signaling other drivers of the vehicle's actions.
  • Assisting drivers in making safe lane changes and decelerations.
      1. Benefits
  • Enhanced safety on the road for both the driver and other road users.
  • Improved communication between vehicles, reducing the risk of accidents.
  • Assistance for drivers in making critical driving decisions.

Original Abstract Submitted

A control device for a vehicle including a right lamp unit and a left lamp unit includes a flashing control unit configured to control flashing of the right lamp unit and the left lamp unit, and a behavior control unit configured to execute at least a deceleration process for decelerating the vehicle in a traveling lane and a course change process for causing the vehicle to enter an adjacent lane or a road shoulder from the traveling lane when a driver of the vehicle is in a state that is inappropriate to continue driving. The flashing control unit is configured to flash the right lamp unit and the left lamp unit in the same pattern when the behavior control unit executes the deceleration process, and to flash the right lamp unit and the left lamp unit in different patterns when the behavior control unit executes the course change process.
