CHARGING CONTROL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18203928 titled 'CHARGING CONTROL DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a device that controls the charging of a power storage device. The device specifies the necessary charge amount and charges the power storage device at a high power level until a predetermined charge amount is reached. After reaching this amount, the device switches to a low power level to maintain an appropriate temperature range through cooling control.
- The device specifies the necessary charge amount of the power storage device.
- The device charges the power storage device at a high power level until a predetermined charge amount is reached.
- After reaching the predetermined charge amount, the device switches to a low power level.
- The low power level maintains an appropriate temperature range through cooling control at a low drive level of the cooling device.
- The high power level maintains the appropriate temperature range through cooling control at a high drive level with higher cooling performance than the low drive level.
Potential Applications
- Electric vehicles: This technology can be applied to the charging systems of electric vehicles, allowing for efficient and controlled charging of the vehicle's power storage device.
- Renewable energy storage: The device can be used in renewable energy systems to control the charging of energy storage devices, ensuring optimal performance and temperature management.
Problems Solved
- Overheating during high-power charging: The device solves the problem of overheating during high-power charging by switching to a low power level and implementing cooling control to maintain an appropriate temperature range.
- Efficient charging: The device ensures efficient charging by charging at a high power level until a predetermined charge amount is reached, and then switching to a low power level to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
Benefits
- Temperature management: The device maintains an appropriate temperature range during charging, preventing overheating and potential damage to the power storage device.
- Efficient charging: By charging at a high power level initially and then switching to a low power level, the device optimizes the charging process and reduces energy consumption.
- Extended lifespan: The controlled charging and temperature management provided by the device can help extend the lifespan of the power storage device.
Original Abstract Submitted
A device includes one or more processors configured to: specify a necessary charge amount of the power storage device; and control the conversion device such that the power storage device is charged at a high power level up to a predetermined charge amount reachable to the specified necessary charge amount, and such that the power storage device is charged at a low power level after the predetermined charge amount has been reached, the low power level being a level of charging power at which an appropriate temperature range is maintained by cooling control at a low drive level of the cooling device, the high power level being a level of charging power at which the appropriate temperature range is maintained by cooling control at a high drive level at which cooling performance is higher than cooling performance of the low drive level.
