LOW-PROFILE HIGH-EFFICIENCY WIDE-SCANNING ANTENNA ARRAY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18174583 titled 'LOW-PROFILE HIGH-EFFICIENCY WIDE-SCANNING ANTENNA ARRAY

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an apparatus that includes a substrate with transmission lines and antenna elements. The transmission lines are arranged in a specific configuration, with different distances between them. The antenna elements are also differently sized.

  • The apparatus includes a substrate with transmission lines and antenna elements.
  • There are first and second transmission lines on the substrate.
  • The first antenna elements are coupled to a first-first transmission line.
  • The second antenna elements are coupled to a first-second transmission line.
  • The distance between the first-first and first-second transmission lines is different from the distance between the first-first and second-second transmission lines.
  • The second-second transmission line is adjacent to the first-first transmission line on the opposite side from the first-second transmission line.
  • At least two antenna elements in the first antenna elements are differently sized.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Antenna arrays for signal reception and transmission
  • Radar systems
  • Satellite communication systems

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improved signal reception and transmission
  • Enhanced antenna performance
  • Reduction of interference and noise
  • Increased data transfer rates

Benefits of this technology:

  • Higher signal quality and reliability
  • Improved coverage and range
  • Compact and efficient antenna design
  • Enhanced performance in challenging environments

Original Abstract Submitted

An apparatus includes a substrate, first and second transmission lines on the substrate, first antenna elements coupled to a first-first transmission line, and second antenna elements coupled to a first-second transmission line. A first distance between the adjacent first-first and first-second transmission lines is different than a second distance between the first-first transmission line and a second-second transmission line, the second-second transmission line adjacent to the first-first transmission line on an opposite side from the first-second transmission line. At least two antenna elements in the first antenna elements are differently sized.
