ELECTRONIC PEDAL APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18117937 titled 'ELECTRONIC PEDAL APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The electronic pedal apparatus described in the patent application includes a pad that moves and rotates along a pad guide, generating acceleration or braking signals for a vehicle when operated by a driver. The movement direction of the pad differs depending on whether an acceleration or braking signal is being generated.

  • Pad moves and rotates along a pad guide
  • Generates acceleration or braking signals for a vehicle
  • Movement direction of the pad varies based on the signal being generated

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in electronic throttle pedals for vehicles, allowing for more precise control over acceleration and braking signals.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of inconsistent movement directions for acceleration and braking signals in electronic pedal apparatuses.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved safety and efficiency in vehicle operation, as well as a more intuitive user experience for drivers.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the automotive industry for the development of advanced electronic pedal systems.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be existing electronic pedal apparatuses that do not differentiate between movement directions for acceleration and braking signals.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact driver comfort and control in vehicles?

This technology could potentially improve driver comfort and control by providing a more intuitive and responsive pedal system for vehicles.

What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in vehicles?

The cost implications of implementing this technology in vehicles could vary depending on the complexity of the system and the scale of production.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic pedal apparatus includes a pad that rectilinearly moves and rotates along a pad guide while being kept in line contact with the pad guide including a shape of an arc when a driver operates the pad, an acceleration signal or a braking signal for a vehicle is generated by operation of the single pad, and a movement direction of the pad at the time of generating the acceleration signal is different from a movement direction of the pad at the time of generating the braking signal.
