TRACTION CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18105715 titled 'TRACTION CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a traction control method for a vehicle with a torque vectoring apparatus, which includes determining if the vehicle is on a split-μ situation, creating a target speed for slip wheel speed control, transmitting the target speed to generate a torque command for the torque vectoring motor, and controlling the motor accordingly.

  • Determining if the vehicle is on a split-μ situation
  • Creating a target speed for slip wheel speed control
  • Transmitting the target speed to generate a torque command for the torque vectoring motor
  • Controlling the torque vectoring motor based on the torque command

Original Abstract Submitted

A traction control method for a vehicle provided with a torque vectoring apparatus including a torque vectoring motor includes determining, by first and second controllers, whether a current situation is a split-μ situation occurring when the vehicle is driven on a split road surface, based on vehicle driving information collected in the vehicle, determining and creating, by the second controller, a target speed for control of a slip wheel speed when both controllers determine the split-μ situation, and transmitting the target speed from the second controller to the first controller, generating, by the first controller, a torque command for the torque vectoring motor for slip wheel speed control to follow the target speed received from the second controller, and controlling, by the first controller, operation of the torque vectoring motor in accordance with the torque command.
