DISPLAY PANEL AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18097647 titled 'DISPLAY PANEL AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

Abstract

A display panel is disclosed that includes a plurality of pixels, each consisting of multiple sub pixels with a light-emitting device and a driving circuit. The driving circuits in the display panel can be implemented with either six N-type metal-oxide-semiconductor thin film transistors (NMOS TFTs) and one Oxide TFT, or five P-type metal-oxide-semiconductor thin film transistors (PMOS TFTs) and two Oxide TFTs, enabling low frequency driving. This reduction in the number of TFTs and scan drivers leads to cost savings, smaller bezel size, and lower power consumption.

Bullet Points

  • Display panel with multiple pixels, each containing sub pixels with a light-emitting device and a driving circuit.
  • Driving circuits can be realized with either six NMOS TFTs and one Oxide TFT, or five PMOS TFTs and two Oxide TFTs.
  • Enables low frequency driving.
  • Reduces manufacturing cost, bezel size, and power consumption.

Potential Applications

  • Consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
  • Computer monitors and laptops.
  • Automotive displays.
  • Public display systems.

Problems Solved

  • Reduces manufacturing cost by reducing the number of TFTs and scan drivers.
  • Enables low frequency driving, leading to lower power consumption.
  • Allows for smaller bezel size, improving the overall design of the display panel.

Benefits

  • Cost savings in manufacturing.
  • Lower power consumption.
  • Smaller bezel size.
  • Improved design and aesthetics of display panels.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display panel is disclosed. The display panel including a plurality of pixels each including a plurality of sub pixels, the respective sub pixels including a light-emitting device and a driving circuit. Driving circuits included in a display panel may be realized with six N-type metal-oxide-semiconductor thin film transistors (NMOS TFTs) and one Oxide TFT, or realized with five P-type metal-oxide-semiconductor thin film transistors (PMOS TFTs) and two Oxide TFTs making low frequency driving possible, and because the number of TFTs and scan drivers are reduced, manufacturing cost, bezel size and power consumption can be reduced.
