METHOD, ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR DETERMINING STORAGE RESOURCE USAGE AMOUNT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18066242 titled 'METHOD, ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR DETERMINING STORAGE RESOURCE USAGE AMOUNT

Simplified Explanation

The patent application abstract describes a method for determining storage resource usage amounts based on historical data and pattern information.

  • The method involves acquiring storage resource usage data related to a user in a historical period.
  • The pattern information of the storage resource usage data is determined based on a time series of the data, including trend, cycle, or irregular patterns.
  • The storage resource usage amount for a target period of the user can be accurately determined using the pattern information and historical data.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various industries such as cloud computing, data storage management, and resource allocation systems.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of accurately predicting storage resource usage amounts for users in future periods, providing valuable reference information for resource planning.

Benefits

The method allows for more accurate determination of storage resource usage amounts, leading to improved resource allocation and cost efficiency for users.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Optimizing Storage Resource Allocation for Future Periods"

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing methods for predicting resource usage based on historical data, but the specific approach of determining pattern information from a time series of storage resource usage data may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

How does this method handle sudden changes or anomalies in storage resource usage data?

The method may need to incorporate outlier detection techniques to account for sudden changes in usage patterns.

Can this method be applied to different types of storage resources, such as cloud storage or physical servers?

Further research may be needed to determine the adaptability of this method to different storage resource environments.

Original Abstract Submitted

Storage resource usage amount(s) are determined. For instance, storage resource usage data in a historical period related to a user is acquired. The pattern information of the storage resource usage data is determined according to a time series of the storage resource usage data, the time series being a series of observed values of the storage resource usage data in the historical period. In addition, the storage resource usage amount for a target period of the user can be determined based on the pattern information and the storage resource usage data. The pattern information at least includes at least one of a trend pattern, a cycle pattern, or an irregular pattern. Beneficially, a storage resource usage amount of a user can be more accurately determined in a future period, thereby providing the user with valuable reference information.
