AR-BASED VISUALIZATION OF ACCIDENTAL SITUATION IN MULTI-MACHINE ENVIRONMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18048559 titled 'AR-BASED VISUALIZATION OF ACCIDENTAL SITUATION IN MULTI-MACHINE ENVIRONMENT

Simplified Explanation

The embodiment described in the abstract is for an augmented reality-based visualization system for an accidental situation in a multi-machine environment. Here is a simplified explanation and bullet points to explain the patent/innovation:

  • Receiving real-time and historical data related to an activity
  • Identifying the context of the activity and properties of objects involved
  • Identifying safety equipment used by a user
  • Assigning a compatibility score to the user
  • Executing a digital twin simulation of the user's avatar if compatibility score is inadequate
  • Creating a visual animation of the avatar's resultant state
  • Displaying the visual animation to the user

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in industrial settings where workers interact with multiple machines to prevent accidents and improve safety protocols.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in identifying potential safety hazards and simulating scenarios to prevent accidents in real-time.

Benefits

The system provides a proactive approach to safety by visualizing potential risks and allowing users to see the consequences of their actions in a virtual environment.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in manufacturing industries where workers operate heavy machinery and equipment.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be existing augmented reality systems used for training simulations in various industries.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system ensure real-time data accuracy and reliability?

The system must have mechanisms in place to ensure that the real-time data received is accurate and reliable to make informed decisions and prevent accidents effectively. This could involve data validation processes and sensor calibration checks.

What are the privacy implications of using augmented reality in a multi-machine environment?

The use of augmented reality in a multi-machine environment raises concerns about privacy, especially regarding the collection and storage of user data. It is essential to address these privacy implications and ensure that user information is protected and used responsibly.

Original Abstract Submitted

An embodiment for augmented reality (AR)-based visualization of an accidental situation in a multi-machine environment is provided. The embodiment may include receiving real-time and historical data relating to an activity. The embodiment may also include identifying a context of the activity and at least one property of one or more objects associated with the activity. The embodiment may further include identifying one or more items of safety equipment used by a user. The embodiment may also include assigning a compatibility score to the user. The embodiment may further include in response to determining the compatibility score is not adequate, executing a digital twin simulation of an avatar of the user. The embodiment may also include creating a visual animation of a resultant state of the avatar of the user consistent with the executed digital twin simulation. The embodiment may further include displaying the visual animation to the user.
