ORGANIC LIGHT-EMITTING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18048113 titled 'ORGANIC LIGHT-EMITTING DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an organic light-emitting device (OLED) that includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an emission layer between them. The emission layer consists of a host material and a phosphorescent dopant. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the emission layer exhibits two peaks, with the first peak having the highest intensity and the second peak having the second highest intensity. The rate of change of the intensity of the second peak in the emission layer is greater than 0% compared to the intensity of the second peak in the PL spectrum of the phosphorescent dopant.

  • Organic light-emitting device with improved emission characteristics
  • Emission layer contains a host material and a phosphorescent dopant
  • Photoluminescence spectrum of the emission layer shows two peaks
  • Rate of change of the intensity of the second peak is greater than 0%
  • Provides enhanced efficiency and performance of the OLED

Potential Applications

  • Display technology for televisions, smartphones, and other electronic devices
  • Lighting applications for energy-efficient and high-quality illumination
  • Signage and advertising displays

Problems Solved

  • Improves the efficiency and performance of organic light-emitting devices
  • Enhances the color purity and brightness of emitted light
  • Reduces energy consumption and extends the lifespan of OLEDs

Benefits

  • Higher efficiency and performance of OLEDs
  • Improved color purity and brightness of emitted light
  • Energy-efficient and long-lasting lighting solutions

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is an organic light-emitting device including: a first electrode; a second electrode facing the first electrode; and an emission layer between the first electrode and the second electrode and including a host and a phosphorescent dopant, wherein a photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the emission layer may include a first peak (I) having a maximum intensity and a second peak (I) having a second highest intensity, and a rate of change of an intensity of the second peak of the emission layer may be greater than 0 percent (%) of an intensity of a second peak of a PL spectrum of the phosphorescent dopant.
