ANTIBACTERIAL COMPOSITION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18027430 titled 'ANTIBACTERIAL COMPOSITION

Simplified Explanation

The antibacterial composition described in the patent application contains a compound with a quaternary ammonium structure and an acrylate or methacrylate group, exhibiting a high antibacterial strength and low acute oral toxicity.

  • The composition includes at least one compound with a quaternary ammonium structure and an acrylate or methacrylate group.
  • The antibacterial strength of the composition is 90% or higher against selected strains of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
  • The acute oral toxicity dose LD50 of the composition is 300 mg/Kg or more.
  • The antibacterial strength is calculated based on the absorbance of a medium solution with and without the composition.

Potential Applications

The antibacterial composition can be used in:

  • Medical settings to combat bacterial infections.
  • Household products to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Industrial applications to prevent bacterial contamination.

Problems Solved

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is an antibacterial composition comprising at least one compound including a quaternary ammonium structure having an acrylate group or a methacrylate group, and having an antibacterial strength A of 90% or more against at least one strain selected from Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria, and an acute oral toxicity dose LD50 of 300 mg/Kg or more, where the antibacterial strength A equals (1−A/A)×100, where Aequals an absorbance of an inoculated medium solution incubated with the antibacterial composition, and Aequals an absorbance of an inoculated medium solution incubated without addition of the antibacterial composition.
