An example computer-implemented method includes determining current state-related information pertaining to at least one returned inventory item; determining health-related information of the at least one returned inventory item by processing, using one or more artificial intelligence techniques, at least a portion of the current state-related information and historical inventory-related data associated with one or more additional inventory items; and performing one or more automated actions in connection with the at least one returned inventory item based at least in part on at least a portion of the determined health-related information.
