OVERSPRAY-FREE PAINT SYSTEM INCLUDING AGV/AMR-BASED FIXTURE LIFTING, POSITIOINING AND ORIENTING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17963306 titled 'OVERSPRAY-FREE PAINT SYSTEM INCLUDING AGV/AMR-BASED FIXTURE LIFTING, POSITIOINING AND ORIENTING

Simplified Explanation

The robotic lifting and orienting system described in the patent application is designed for an overspray-free paint system. It includes a base with wheels and an automated carrier that holds an object to be painted. The carrier also features manipulators to move the object relative to a paint robot, a propulsion system to move the system, and a control module to manage positioning and orienting of the object.

  • Base with wheels
  • Automated carrier with fixture assembly
  • Manipulators for moving the object
  • Propulsion system for movement
  • Control module for positioning and orienting

Potential Applications

The technology could be used in automotive painting facilities, industrial painting operations, and other manufacturing processes that require precise and efficient painting of objects.

Problems Solved

This system eliminates overspray during the painting process, leading to a more efficient and environmentally friendly operation. It also allows for consistent and accurate painting of objects.

Benefits

The robotic lifting and orienting system increases productivity by automating the painting process and reducing the need for manual labor. It also improves the quality of painted objects by ensuring precise and uniform coverage.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Robotic Lifting and Orienting System for Overspray-Free Paint System" - Optimizing painting processes in manufacturing facilities

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include other robotic painting systems used in industrial settings, but the specific design and features of this system may be unique.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system handle objects of different shapes and sizes during the painting process?

The system's manipulators are likely designed to adjust to various object dimensions and shapes, but the exact mechanism for this adaptation is not detailed in the abstract.

What safety features are incorporated into the system to prevent accidents or damage during operation?

While the abstract mentions control of positioning and orienting, it does not specify any safety measures that may be in place to protect both the objects being painted and the system itself.

Original Abstract Submitted

A robotic lifting and orienting system for an overspray-free paint system includes: a base coupled to wheels; and an automated carrier coupled to the base. The automated carrier includes: a fixture assembly configured to hold an object to be painted; one or more manipulators configured to move the fixture assembly relative to a paint robot; a propulsion system connected to the wheels and configured to move the robotic lifting and orienting system; and a control module configured to control the one or more manipulators and the propulsion system to control positioning and orienting of the object relative to at least one of the paint robot and an overspray-free paint applicator of the paint robot.
