SOLID STATE DRIVE (SSD) AND OPERATING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17961048 titled 'SOLID STATE DRIVE (SSD) AND OPERATING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a storage system and its operating method. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The storage system includes a nonvolatile memory that stores data.
  • A computing device is used to process the data from the nonvolatile memory or from a host outside the storage system.
  • A controller is responsible for controlling the writing and reading operations of the nonvolatile memory.
  • The controller also monitors the operating state of the computing device while it is processing the data.
  • Based on the monitoring result, the controller dynamically manages the power of the computing device.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be applied in various storage systems, such as solid-state drives (SSDs) or flash memory devices.
  • It can be used in data centers, servers, or any system that requires efficient data processing and power management.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology addresses the need for efficient power management in storage systems.
  • It solves the problem of excessive power consumption during data processing operations.
  • It ensures optimal power usage by dynamically adjusting the power based on the operating state of the computing device.

Benefits:

  • Improved power efficiency and reduced power consumption in storage systems.
  • Enhanced performance and reliability by monitoring and managing the computing device's operating state.
  • Extended lifespan of the nonvolatile memory by optimizing power usage during data processing operations.

Original Abstract Submitted

A storage system and an operating method thereof are disclosed. The storage system includes a nonvolatile memory that stores data; a computing device to perform data processing on input data provided from the nonvolatile memory or a host outside the storage system; and a controller to control a writing operation and a reading operation of the nonvolatile memory, monitor an operating state of the computing device while the computing device is performing the data processing, and dynamically manage power of the computing device according to a monitoring result.
