DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT PANTS WITH ELASTICIZED WAIST PANEL STRUCTURE AND OBSCURING PRINT PATTERNS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17940626 titled 'DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT PANTS WITH ELASTICIZED WAIST PANEL STRUCTURE AND OBSCURING PRINT PATTERNS

Simplified Explanation

The adult disposable absorbent pant described in the patent application is made of stretch laminate material with elastic strands that create a Rugosity Area on the front and rear panels. The Rugosity Area is printed with a pattern to obscure the texture of the panel.

  • The adult disposable absorbent pant has front and rear panels made of stretch laminate material.
  • The stretch laminate material consists of inner and outer layers of nonwoven web material with elastic strands in between.
  • The elastic strands are longitudinally spaced and laterally pre-strained, creating a Rugosity Area on the panels.
  • The elastic strands in at least one of the panels have an average longitudinal spacing of 2 mm to 6 mm.
  • The Rugosity Area is printed with a pattern that has a Color Contrast of at least 50 percent, visible from outside the pant.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in the manufacturing of adult disposable absorbent pants for incontinence care, providing a comfortable and discreet solution for users.

Problems Solved

This innovation solves the problem of visible rugosity on the front and rear panels of adult disposable absorbent pants, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the product.

Benefits

The printed pattern on the Rugosity Area helps to obscure the texture of the panels, improving the overall appearance of the adult disposable absorbent pant.

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology described in the patent application could be utilized by manufacturers of adult disposable absorbent pants to create products with enhanced visual appeal and comfort for users.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be the use of elastic strands in absorbent products to provide stretch and flexibility, but the specific application of printing a pattern on the Rugosity Area to obscure texture may be a novel feature.

Unanswered Questions

How does the printing of a pattern on the Rugosity Area affect the overall performance of the adult disposable absorbent pant?

The article does not provide information on whether the printing affects the absorbency or durability of the product.

Are there any specific guidelines for designing the pattern to ensure optimal obscuring of the rugosity on the panels?

The article does not mention any specific recommendations for designing the printed pattern to effectively conceal the texture of the panels.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is an adult disposable absorbent pant having front and rear panels each comprising stretch laminate material. The stretch laminate material may have an inner layer and an outer layer, each formed of nonwoven web material, and a plurality of longitudinally spaced, laterally extending and laterally pre-strained elastic strands therebetween. The plurality of elastic strands in at least one of the front and rear panels has an average longitudinal strand spacing of 2 mm to 6 mm, and imparts a Rugosity Area to the panel. The Rugosity Area bears a pattern of printing, visible from outside the pant. The pattern of printing may be configured to impart a Percent Rugosity Area with a Color Contrast of at least 50 percent, for the panel. The pattern of printing serves to obscure rugosity of the panel.
