ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17881208 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device and its operating method. The device includes a nonvolatile memory, a power management integrated circuit, and an application processor. The power management integrated circuit generates operating power from a power source and also generates first time information independently of the power source. The application processor receives the operating power and generates second time information. In case the generation of operating power is interrupted, the application processor obtains the first time information and outputs time data, a write command, and an address to the nonvolatile memory.

  • The electronic device includes a nonvolatile memory.
  • A power management integrated circuit generates operating power from a power source.
  • The power management integrated circuit also generates first time information independently of the power source.
  • An application processor receives the operating power and generates second time information.
  • If the generation of operating power is interrupted, the application processor obtains the first time information.
  • The application processor outputs time data, a write command, and an address to the nonvolatile memory.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in various electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and wearables.
  • It can be used in devices that require accurate timekeeping even when the power source is interrupted or unavailable.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of maintaining accurate time data in electronic devices when the power source is interrupted.
  • It addresses the issue of power interruptions affecting the timekeeping functionality of electronic devices.

Benefits

  • The electronic device can accurately track time even when the power source is interrupted.
  • The nonvolatile memory ensures that the time data is retained even during power interruptions.
  • The technology provides a reliable and efficient method for timekeeping in electronic devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided are an electronic device and an operating method thereof. The electronic device includes a nonvolatile memory; a power management integrated circuit configured to generate operating power based on supply power received from a power source, and generate first time information independent of the supply power; and an application processor configured to receive the operating power, generate second time information, obtain, based on the generation of the operating power being interrupted, the first time information, and output, to the nonvolatile memory, time data including the first time information and the second time information, a write command, and an address.
