ORNAMENTAL MEMBER AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17709837 titled 'ORNAMENTAL MEMBER AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an electronic device and an ornamental member for the device. The device includes a housing, a front plate, and a rear plate. One of the plates includes an ornamental member consisting of a base film, an ultra-violet (UV) molding layer, and a plurality of refractive layers.

  • The ornamental member is attached to one surface of a transparent plate and allows light to partially transmit through.
  • The UV molding layer is formed on the base film to enhance the visual appearance of the ornamental member.
  • The plurality of refractive layers are stacked on the UV molding layer, with at least one layer having a different refractive index and surface area compared to the others.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops could incorporate this ornamental member to enhance their aesthetic appeal.
  • The technology could also be used in other electronic devices like smartwatches, fitness trackers, or gaming consoles.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The ornamental member adds a visually appealing element to electronic devices, making them more attractive to consumers.
  • The different refractive layers create a unique visual effect, adding depth and dimension to the ornamental member.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The ornamental member can be customized to suit different design preferences, allowing for personalization of electronic devices.
  • The use of different refractive layers adds a distinctive visual element, making the device stand out from others in the market.
  • The technology is cost-effective and can be easily integrated into existing electronic device manufacturing processes.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device and ornamental member for the same are disclosed herein. The electronic devices includes a housing, a front plate disposed on one surface of the housing, and a rear plate disposed on a rear surface of the housing, wherein one of the plates includes the ornamental member, which includes: a base film attached to one surface of a transparent plate and configured to at least partially transmit light, an ultra-violet (UV) molding layer formed on a surface of the base film, and a plurality of refractive layers sequentially stacked on a surface of the UV molding layer, wherein at least one of the plurality of refractive layers is formed to have a different refractive index and a different surface area from a remainder of the refractive layers.
