MAPPING AN APPLICATION SIGNATURE TO DESIGNATED CLOUD RESOURCES - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17531095 titled 'MAPPING AN APPLICATION SIGNATURE TO DESIGNATED CLOUD RESOURCES
Simplified Explanation
The techniques described in this patent application aim to optimize the use of cloud infrastructure and assign application execution to hardware resources in a cloud platform that are specifically configured for that application.
- An application registration entity is aware of different tiers within the cloud infrastructure.
- Tiers are designated areas within a datacenter where hardware resources are preconfigured for specific types of applications.
- The application registration entity classifies applications based on performance parameters represented by an application signature.
- The application registration entity maps the execution of the application to a tier in a datacenter that corresponds to its classification.
- The assigned tier includes hardware resources that are preconfigured to meet the performance parameters of the application.
Potential Applications
- Cloud computing platforms
- Datacenters
- Application deployment and optimization
Problems Solved
- Efficient utilization of cloud infrastructure
- Matching application requirements with appropriate hardware resources
- Streamlining application execution and performance
Benefits
- Improved performance and efficiency of cloud applications
- Optimal allocation of hardware resources
- Simplified application deployment and management
Original Abstract Submitted
The techniques described herein provide systems for optimizing the use of cloud infrastructure and for assigning the execution of an application to hardware resources in a cloud platform that are preconfigured to handle the execution of the application. An application registration entity is made aware of different tiers within the cloud infrastructure. A tier is a designated area within a datacenter, for example, where hardware resources are preconfigured to tailor to the execution of a particular classification of applications. The application registration entity can classify an application into one of various classifications based on performance parameters which are represented by an application signature. Once classified, the application registration entity assigns, or maps, the execution of the application to a tier in a datacenter that corresponds to the classification. This tier includes hardware resources preconfigured, or previously configured, to satisfy the performance parameter.
