METHOD FOR DISASTER ROAMING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18381153 titled 'METHOD FOR DISASTER ROAMING
The abstract of this patent application describes a method for disaster roaming initiated by user equipment (UE) under specific conditions, such as receiving System Information Block (SIB) from a first Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) indicating a disaster, receiving a message from the first PLMN about disaster roaming availability, or determining out-of-service (OOS) status from the first PLMN. The method involves searching for a second PLMN to register after detecting these conditions.
- Disaster roaming search initiated by UE under specific conditions
- Conditions include receiving SIB from first PLMN, message about disaster, or OOS status
- SIB contains disaster roaming information element
- Search for second PLMN to register after detecting conditions
Potential Applications: - Emergency response systems - Disaster recovery operations - Public safety communications
Problems Solved: - Efficient disaster roaming initiation - Seamless network connectivity during emergencies
Benefits: - Quick response to disaster situations - Enhanced communication capabilities for users in affected areas
Commercial Applications: Title: Disaster Roaming System for Emergency Communications This technology can be utilized by telecommunications companies, emergency response agencies, and government organizations to improve communication services during disasters and emergencies. It can also be integrated into mobile devices to provide users with reliable connectivity in crisis situations.
Questions about Disaster Roaming System: 1. How does the disaster roaming system improve communication during emergencies? The disaster roaming system allows user equipment to quickly search for alternative networks in case of a disaster, ensuring continuous communication services for users in affected areas.
2. What are the key features of the disaster roaming system? The key features include the ability to detect disaster conditions, search for alternative networks, and seamlessly switch between networks for uninterrupted communication.
Original Abstract Submitted
A method for disaster roaming includes initiating disaster roaming search by user equipment (UE) if one of following conditions occurs: the UE receives System Information Block (SIB) from a first Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), the UE receives a message and/or an information element from the first PLMN indicating an occurrence of a disaster or availability of disaster roaming, and the UE determines out-of-service (OOS) from the first PLMN. The SIB includes at least one disaster roaming information element. The method further includes searching by the UE for a second PLMN to register.
