DEVICE FOR DISTANCE MEASUREMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18337338 titled 'DEVICE FOR DISTANCE MEASUREMENT

The abstract describes an image sensor with two pixels and a control circuit that can provide different modulation voltages to each pixel in different modes.

  • The control circuit can supply a first modulation voltage and a second modulation voltage with a 180-degree phase difference to each of the pixels in a first mode.
  • In a second mode, the control circuit can provide the first modulation voltage to one pixel and the second modulation voltage to another pixel among the two pixels.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in digital cameras, smartphones, and other imaging devices to improve image quality and performance. - It can also be applied in medical imaging equipment for enhanced diagnostic capabilities.

Problems Solved: - The technology addresses the need for precise control of modulation voltages in image sensors to optimize image capture and processing.

Benefits: - Improved image quality and resolution. - Enhanced performance in low-light conditions. - Greater flexibility in image sensor operation.

Commercial Applications: - This innovation can be valuable for companies producing digital cameras, smartphones, medical imaging devices, and surveillance systems. - It can lead to competitive advantages in the market by offering superior image sensor technology.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the phase difference between the modulation voltages impact image quality? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in mass-produced devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

An image sensor includes at least two pixels and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to provide a first modulation voltage and a second modulation voltage having a phase difference of 180 degrees from each other to each of the at least two pixels in a first mode. The control circuit is also configured to provide the first modulation voltage to a first pixel among the at least two pixels and provide the second modulation voltage to a second pixel among the at least two pixels in a second mode.
