PACKET PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS, DEVICE, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240106749 titled 'PACKET PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS, DEVICE, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a method and apparatus for packet processing in communication technologies. A control identifier field is added to a packet to indicate whether forwarding is allowed when the first network device does not configure the slice identifier on an outbound interface. The control identifier field and slice identifier are transmitted together in the packet, allowing the receive end to discard the packet based on the control identifier field if the slice identifier is not configured on the outbound interface.
- Control identifier field added to packet
- Indicates forwarding permission when slice identifier is not configured
- Control identifier and slice identifier transmitted together
- Receive end can discard packet based on control identifier field
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in various network communication systems where packet forwarding control is necessary, such as in data centers, cloud computing environments, and virtual private networks.
Problems Solved
1. Efficient packet processing in networks with multiple network slices 2. Simplified packet forwarding control without relying solely on routing information
Benefits
1. Improved network performance and resource utilization 2. Enhanced network security by allowing selective packet forwarding 3. Streamlined network management and configuration
Potential Commercial Applications
Optimizing network traffic in data centers Enhancing security in cloud computing environments Improving network efficiency in virtual private networks
Possible Prior Art
Prior art may include patents or publications related to packet processing methods, network slicing technologies, and packet forwarding control mechanisms in communication networks.

Original Abstract Submitted
this application provides a packet processing method and apparatus, a device, and a storage medium, and pertains to the field of communication technologies. in this application, a control identifier field is added to a packet, and the control identifier field indicates whether forwarding of the packet is allowed when the first network device does not configure the slice identifier on an outbound interface. the control identifier field and a slice identifier of a network slice are carried in the packet, so that the slice identifier and the control identifier field are transmitted on a network together. when a receive end does not configure the slice identifier on the outbound interface, the receive end can discard the packet based on the control identifier field, instead of forwarding the packet by using routing information.
