DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17853678 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display device that includes a display panel, measurement enabling units, and a processor. The display panel can show images and consists of non-folding and folding parts. The first measurement enabling unit is located in the first non-folding part and emits light. The second measurement enabling unit is located in the second non-folding part and produces a signal in response to force or light. The processor is connected to the second measurement enabling unit and uses the signal to determine blood pressure.

  • The display device has a display panel with both folding and non-folding parts.
  • There are two measurement enabling units, one in each non-folding part.
  • The first measurement enabling unit emits light, while the second one produces a signal in response to force or light.
  • The processor is connected to the second measurement enabling unit and uses the signal to determine blood pressure.

Potential Applications

  • Medical devices for monitoring blood pressure.
  • Wearable devices with blood pressure monitoring capabilities.
  • Health and fitness trackers with integrated blood pressure measurement.

Problems Solved

  • Convenient and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring.
  • Integration of blood pressure measurement into display devices.
  • Improved accuracy and reliability of blood pressure measurements.

Benefits

  • Real-time blood pressure monitoring without the need for additional devices.
  • Enhanced portability and convenience for users.
  • Potential for early detection of hypertension or other cardiovascular conditions.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a display panel, a first measurement enabling unit, a second measurement enabling unit, and a processor. The display panel may display an image. The display panel includes a first non-folding part, a second non-folding part, and a first folding part. The first non-folding part is connected through the folding part to the second non-folding part. The first measurement enabling unit is disposed in or overlaps with the first non-folding part and may emit first light. The second measurement enabling unit is disposed in or overlaps with the second non-folding part and may output a first signal in response to at least one of a received force and received light. The processor is connected to the second measurement enabling unit and may use the first signal to determine a blood pressure value.
