DISPLAY DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE MANUFACTURING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17989519 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE MANUFACTURING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device with a base layer, a pixel circuit, a pixel electrode, a middle layer, a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs), and a common electrode.

  • The display device includes a base layer, which serves as the foundation for the other components.
  • A pixel circuit is placed on the base layer, allowing control of individual pixels.
  • A pixel electrode is electrically connected to the pixel circuit, enabling the transmission of electrical signals.
  • A middle layer is positioned on top of the pixel electrode and consists of a polymer resin layer and a conductive layer.
  • The conductive layer hosts a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) that are electrically connected to the pixel electrode.
  • Each LED is composed of a first electrode, a light generating layer, and a second electrode, stacked in the thickness direction of the base layer.
  • A common electrode covers the LEDs and is electrically connected to them, ensuring uniformity in the emitted light.

Potential Applications

  • This display device can be used in various electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, televisions, and computer monitors.
  • It can also find applications in wearable technology, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices, and automotive displays.

Problems Solved

  • The display device addresses the need for improved pixel control and uniformity in light emission.
  • By utilizing a middle layer with a conductive layer and LEDs, it provides a more efficient and reliable display solution.

Benefits

  • The pixel circuit and pixel electrode allow for precise control of individual pixels, resulting in enhanced image quality.
  • The use of LEDs ensures uniform and consistent light emission across the display.
  • The display device offers improved energy efficiency compared to traditional display technologies.
  • It provides a thinner and lighter display design, making it suitable for portable devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a display device including a base layer, a pixel circuit disposed on the base layer, a pixel electrode electrically connected to the pixel circuit, a middle layer disposed on the pixel electrode and including a polymer resin layer and a conductive layer, a plurality of light emitting diodes disposed on the conductive layer and electrically connected to the pixel electrode, and a common electrode configured to cover the plurality of light emitting diodes and electrically connected to the plurality of light emitting diodes. Each of the plurality of light emitting diodes includes a first electrode, a light generating layer, and a second electrode sequentially stacked in a thickness direction of the base layer.
