WINDING DEVICE AND PRINTING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18338803 titled 'WINDING DEVICE AND PRINTING DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a winding unit that is used to wind up an elongated medium, such as a roll of paper or film. The unit includes a winding roller, a cylindrical pressing member, a cylindrical winding guide member, and arms for supporting the pressing member.

  • The winding roller is responsible for winding up the medium as it is transported.
  • The pressing member is cylindrical and presses the medium towards the winding roller at the winding position.
  • The winding guide member is also cylindrical and guides the medium towards the winding roller before it is wound up.
  • The arms support the pressing member and can pivot around the central shaft of the winding guide member.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Printing and packaging industries that require winding up of elongated mediums like paper or film rolls.
  • Manufacturing processes that involve the winding of materials such as textiles or wires.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures proper winding of the medium by pressing it towards the winding roller.
  • Guides the medium accurately towards the winding roller to prevent misalignment or tangling.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved winding efficiency and accuracy.
  • Reduces the risk of misalignment or tangling during the winding process.
  • Simplifies the winding unit design and operation.

Original Abstract Submitted

A winding unit includes a winding roller configured to wind up an elongated medium M that was transported, a cylindrical pressing member that extends along a rotation shaft of the winding roller and that is configured to press the medium M toward the winding roller at a position where the medium M is wound by the winding roller, a cylindrical winding guide member that extends along the rotation shaft of the winding roller, that has a fixed position with respect to the winding roller, and that is configured to guide the medium M to the winding roller before the medium is wound up by the winding roller, and arms that extend in a direction intersecting an extension direction of the pressing member and that are configured to support the pressing member, wherein the arms are configured to pivot about a central shaft of the winding guide member.
