POWER SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18336233 titled 'POWER SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a power system that consists of a central unit, a zone unit, and an electric wire connecting a downstream unit to the zone unit. The central unit sends electric wire characteristic data to the zone unit, which writes this data into a storage device and determines whether to turn off a semiconductor switch based on the data and current detection.

  • The power system includes a central unit, zone unit, and electric wire.
  • The central unit transmits electric wire characteristic data to the zone unit.
  • The zone unit writes the transmitted data into a storage device.
  • The zone unit determines whether to turn off a semiconductor switch based on the written data and current detection.

Potential Applications

  • Power distribution systems
  • Smart grid technology
  • Industrial automation

Problems Solved

  • Efficient transmission of electric wire characteristic data
  • Accurate determination of when to turn off a semiconductor switch

Benefits

  • Improved power system efficiency
  • Enhanced control and monitoring capabilities
  • Reduced energy waste

Original Abstract Submitted

A power system includes a central unit, a zone unit capable of communicating with the central unit, and a downstream electric wire configured to electrically connect a predetermined downstream unit to the zone unit. A central processor of the central unit executes processing including transmitting electric wire characteristic data stored in a central storage device to the zone unit at a predetermined timing. A zone processor of the zone unit executes processing including writing the electric wire characteristic data transmitted from the central unit into a zone storage device in response to reception of the electric wire characteristic data, and determining whether to turn a semiconductor switch coupled to the downstream electric wire to an OFF state, based on the electric wire characteristic data written into the zone storage device and the current detected by a current sensor.
